I was awakened by my alarm at 9 am, but I opted to snooze and indulge in the luxurious comfort of the bed at Tokatoka Resort. Finally rising around 11 am, I observed a slight cloudiness in the sky. However, as long as it didn’t rain, I was content.

The weather alternated between cloudy and occasional bursts of sunshine. Opting for an early lunch, I treated myself to an exquisite Caesar salad at the restaurant. Absolutely fantastic.

Leisurely Day by the Pool

Following my lunch, I settled by the pool to unwind. Having taken a swim the previous day, I anticipated that the cloudy weather would make the water too cold for a dip. Instead, I reclined on my lounger with a towel and my book, making significant progress in my Game of Thrones novel. Eventually, one of the staff members approached and inquired if I desired a refreshment. I opted for a lemon squash and a side of French fries. Life felt delightful here at Tokatoka Resort.

By the late afternoon, the swimming pool became lively with the presence of American girls. Engaging in conversation with two of them, I learned they were part of a volleyball team from a university in Utah, departing for the USA later in the evening. The girls were enjoying themselves by the pool, while I resumed my reading.

The resort was delightful. The women at the restaurant were kind, and every person I encountered greeted me with ‘Bula,’ the Fijian word for hello. It gave me a sense of being in an English-inspired Indonesia, albeit more costly and with a distinctive flair.

Friendly Encounters at the Airport Store

In the afternoon, I strolled back to the airport to grab some coke and snacks once again. A few taxi drivers vied for my attention, and I couldn’t help but feel inclined to say ‘Terimakasih,’ Indonesian for thank you. It’s wonderful to be surrounded by such friendly locals everywhere I go. I truly enjoyed it.

Back in the store, I bought some chips, peanuts, and coke. I smiled at the Indian girls behind the counter and chuckled as I noticed they recognized me from yesterday. Seeing someone two days in a row at the airport is not a common occurrence. I thanked them for my change. “Goodbye, girls,” I said while walking towards the exit. One of them called out, “See you tomorrow!” I laughed and replied, “Yeah, maybe!”

Effortless Indulgence

I strolled back to my room and continued reading on my bed. Eventually, I set the book aside, lay down, and began contemplating the events that were about to unfold in the coming days. Gradually, I drifted off to sleep because, let’s face it, this bed was unbelievably comfortable. I took a one-hour nap, awakening at 8 pm.

I headed to the restaurant for dinner, opting for the vegetable chicken dish and ordering a Coke Zero. As expected, the food was fantastic. I browsed the internet using my phone, as it was the only viable option—the connection speed was too slow for my laptop.

Quiet Moments and Late-Night Productivity

Following my meal at Tokatoka Resort, I returned to my room and began packing. I enjoyed a movie and some relaxation. Around 11 pm, I started working on various articles, including this one. By 12:30 am, I had completed my tasks. After some additional relaxation, I went to bed around 2 am. Despite the early wake-up call at 6 am the next day, I wasn’t concerned, as I knew I had ample time to catch up on sleep later in the day.
