Today signified my final day on this island, filled with nothing but relaxation and delectable food on Gili Trawangan. I rose early to text Eva. She responded, sharing the news that the booze cruise had been canceled due to insufficient sign-ups. Mixed emotions filled me upon reading her message—I had eagerly anticipated the cruise, yet the prospect of returning to bed for a few more hours of sleep was enticing. Succumbing to the latter, I dozed off again and enjoyed an additional two hours of rest.

Lunch at the beach

Later, Eva messaged me, suggesting we rendezvous at the beach around 1 pm. We settled in front of Cafe Gili, and I indulged in a luxurious meal, feeling like a king. I treated myself to a chicken curry sandwich and a delightful milkshake, momentarily indifferent to the prices for food on Gili Trawangan. Eva, despite having a large rash on her buttocks causing discomfort, showed it to me without hesitation—such a carefree and adventurous spirit! Hanna mentioned she had also displayed it to five different people at their accommodation, adding a touch of humor to their lively escapades.

Around 3 pm, rain began to fall, and we sought refuge at Cafe Gili. Seated comfortably, I opted for a petite yet delightful crème brûlée. As we enjoyed our treats, I broached the possibility that Eva might be dealing with bed bugs. I shared pictures on my laptop and explained the situation, though I wasn’t entirely certain, given that Hanna showed no signs. Concerned, Eva decided to consult a doctor immediately. With several clinics on the island, they headed to one together. In the meantime, I relaxed at Cafe Gili, keeping an eye on their clothes and valuables until their return.

Chilling and Dinner

Upon their return after 30 minutes, they assured me that the rash wasn’t caused by bed bugs. Eva underwent an inspection, and the doctor diagnosed it as something else. She was prescribed a cortisone cream and anti-histamine. Hanna, fortunately, was unaffected. However, due to the rash, Eva found it uncomfortable to sit. Once the rain subsided, I chose to head back to my accommodation and unwind. While there, I observed the birds outside, producing an unusual whistling sound as they circled in the sky, reminiscent of distant fireworks.

In the evening, I fetched Eva and Hanna at approximately 9. We planned to share one last dinner together, and I opted for a delightful meal of burritos filled with a variety of vegetables. The food on Gili Trawangan was perfect!

Tomorrow, I was set to depart from Gili. While Eva and Hanna planned to stay on the island, my boat was scheduled to depart around 10 am. I intended to bid farewell to the girls at that time, coinciding with their departure for a snorkeling trip.

At around 11 pm, I returned to my room and packed some belongings. The air conditioning provided a pleasant atmosphere, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I settled down to sleep at 1 am, setting my alarm for 9 am.
