I woke up around 9:30 am at Absoloot Value Accommodation, and the Asian girls had already left. The bed was comfortable, and I enjoyed my stay. Impressed with the two-person bed in the dorm, I decided to extend my stay. Walking to the reception, I was fortunate—the dorm at Absoloot Value Accommodation was still available, and I could stay for another night. Awesome.
A Relaxed Afternoon Plan
I went back to bed and slept some more. Around 12 noon, I woke up and decided to take it easy. Feeling quite sick, I realized I needed a day to rest and do nothing.
In the afternoon, I headed to my car parked on Manly Street, one of the three streets allowing free parking. The previous evening, I had inquired with the receptionist about free parking options to avoid the need to get up early (as paid parking started at 9 am).
I had to go to my car to fetch some money. During the stroll, I snapped some pictures of the surroundings. The weather was stunning, contrary to my earlier expectation of rain. Inspired by the beautiful day, I planned to explore something in the Queenstown area in the afternoon.

Healthy Shopping and Lazy Afternoon
After retrieving my car, I used Google Maps to locate a nearby store, just a five-minute walk away. I reached Four Square and purchased some healthy items, including fruit, fruit juice, and vegetables. Additionally, I grabbed some Coke Zero.

In the afternoon, I relaxed and watched How I Met Your Mother, enjoying a lazy day as I felt tired. Nothing particularly interesting happened. Later in the afternoon, I took a shower before the three Asian girls returned. They each needed an hour to two hours to shower and get ready for the night.
Efficient Hostel Management and a Quiet Return
Throughout the day, the staff at Absoloot Value Accommodation entered our dorm three times for various tasks. A girl came in to clean the bathroom, a guy vacuumed the dorm, and three other guys addressed maintenance issues. This proactive approach showcased the hostel’s excellent management, and I didn’t mind the periodic cleaning at all.
At around 9 pm, the girls returned. I chuckled as they seemed tired and not as loud as the previous night. They joined in the laughter when I jokingly remarked that they were being unusually quiet. They shared their experience of encountering rain throughout the day in Milford Sound.
Yvette’s Farewell and Gratitude
In the evening, Yvette visited my room to bid farewell. She mentioned her departure to Auckland tomorrow, heading back to China. As a token of appreciation for the trip, she thanked me, and I reimbursed her with the 20 dollars I owed.
Around midnight, I went to sleep. Tomorrow, I had a long drive ahead, but first, I planned to explore something incredible near Queenstown.
