Today was a day of relaxing at the Grand Lucayan Resort. I woke up feeling completely drained, like I’d spent the night partying—except I hadn’t. Groggily, I glanced at the fancy alarm clock on the nightstand: 4:30 PM. “That can’t be right. Where’s my phone?” I muttered, fumbling around until I found it on the floor. One look at the screen, and I blurted out, “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
I had been out like a light last night—deep, blissful sleep. The bed was just that good. Maybe too good, if I’m honest.
Thinking back, I remembered another near-miss. Right before crashing, I’d managed to hang the Do Not Disturb sign on the door for housekeeping. If I’d forgotten, they would’ve come knocking bright and early. Crisis averted—but just barely. Sigh.
Another Relaxing Day at the Resort
As I headed toward the restrooms, fragments of last night’s (and day’s) vivid dreams came rushing back. With jet lag throwing my schedule into chaos, I had no real option but to embrace a relaxed day at the resort.
On the bright side, I had accomplished something productive during the night. I’d made serious progress on the website, typing non-stop until it was ready. Once finished, I set the program to process the updates, generating all the necessary data. By the time I woke up, it had completed the job—of course, technology loves to show off while you’re asleep.
Before leaving my room, I uploaded all the files. It was surprisingly quick, taking just 15 minutes. With the website updated and out of the way, it was time for a… 5 PM breakfast.

Another Subway Lunch
I grabbed a footlong sandwich, a drink, and a small snack at Subway for $14—a solid deal, all things considered. I decided to eat there because, honestly, I was starving.
After my breakfast/lunch/dinner (take your pick), I wandered around the area. It was surprisingly quiet today, which felt odd. I figured it had to do with the one-day ferry passengers—there’s a special deal for them, so most of them probably head straight back.
Back at the hotel, I headed to the lobby to gather information about a tour I was interested in. My main goal? To see if there was any affordable transportation on the island. Unfortunately, no such luck. A taxi would set me back $120, and while the tour was a more reasonable $50, it came with limited time.
What I really wanted was to visit this incredible beach that’s supposed to be stunning at low tide. But here’s the kicker: the tour organized by the resort would leave the beach just before low tide. Talk about bad timing!

Booking a Tour
The tour desk was located on the far side of the lobby, so I made my way over to get the details. They gave me the rundown on the price and the itinerary, explaining that I’d need to be there by 9 AM the next morning. However, the tour wasn’t guaranteed—they’d only go if enough people signed up.
I decided to leave it up to fate and see how things played out the next day.
Back in my room, I took it easy and enjoyed some downtime. I caught up with friends and family, worked on a few more articles, and did a bit of planning. Life in the Bahamas was treating me well—no complaints here!
Room Service
Around 10 PM, I caved and ordered room service again. This time, I went for a Caesar salad and a vegetable wrap with French fries. The wrap and fries turned out to be pretty disappointing, so I stashed the salad in the fridge for later.
Fast forward three hours, and there I was in the middle of the night, devouring that salad. And wow—it was massive and absolutely delicious. Totally worth the wait!
After Effect of a Jetlag
I finally crawled into bed around 4 AM but couldn’t fall asleep. With the alarm set for 8 AM, I lay there, wide awake, watching the hours crawl by. By 6 AM, frustration hit its peak. Jet lag—what a cruel joke.
Determined not to oversleep, I’d placed my phone across the room to force myself out of bed when the alarm blared. I even set two backup alarms on the resort’s nightstand clock, just to be safe. Thankfully, around 6:30 AM, sleep finally claimed me—better late than never!
